The legitimate model, explained
A lawful online GLP-1 program works like this: you complete a medical intake; a provider licensed in your state reviews it (and follows up if anything needs clarifying); if treatment is appropriate, they write a prescription; a U.S. state-licensed pharmacy fills it and ships it to you. Every link in that chain is regulated — medical boards license the providers, state boards of pharmacy license the pharmacies, and compounding is governed by federal law (sections 503A/503B of the FDCA).

What "compounded" means — and doesn't
Compounded semaglutide is prepared by a licensed compounding pharmacy rather than the brand manufacturer. Compounding is a legal, longstanding part of American pharmacy — but compounded drugs are not individually FDA-approved, which is why the pharmacy's licensing and testing practices matter so much, and why we say so plainly on every page. What compounded does not mean: gray-market, imported, or "research grade." Those are different things, and they're where the real danger lives.
Five signs you're looking at a scam
- No prescription required. Semaglutide is prescription-only in the U.S. Full stop. Anyone selling it without a provider review is operating illegally.
- "Research peptides" framing. Vials sold "for research use only" are an explicit dodge of pharmacy regulation — unverified purity, unverified dose, no clinician.
- Crypto, wire, or gift-card payment. Legitimate medical providers take cards. Untraceable payment is a deliberate choice.
- No named clinical entity. If you can't find which medical group and which pharmacy are behind the website, there may not be either.
- Prices too good to be plausible. Provider care + licensed compounding + shipping has a real cost floor. Far below it, something in the chain is missing.
