Why the choice matters more than the medication
Semaglutide from one licensed pharmacy is chemically the job of the same molecule from another. What actually varies between providers — enormously — is everything around the medication: whether a real clinician reviews your history, where the medication is compounded, what happens when you have a side-effect question on a Saturday, and what the price becomes in month four. That's what you're choosing.
The 9-point checklist
- LegitScript certification. Independent verification of the operation behind the website. Certification is slow and strict to obtain — treat it as a strong pass signal. (Agave Longevity is LegitScript certified.)
- A real intake, reviewed by a licensed provider. If the questionnaire couldn't possibly disqualify anyone, it isn't a medical review. A legitimate service declines people — and doesn't charge them for medication when it does.
- U.S. state-licensed pharmacy sourcing. Ask where the medication is compounded. The right answer names a state-licensed U.S. pharmacy. The wrong answer is vague, overseas, or "research use only."
- All-inclusive, published pricing. The number on the website should be the number on your card statement — provider visits, the medication, and shipping included.
- No dose-escalation price ladder. A common industry pattern: an attractive starting price that climbs as your dose titrates up. Ask directly: "Does my price rise with my dose?" (At Agave, it doesn't.)
- Ongoing provider access. Side effects and dose adjustments are normal parts of GLP-1 care. There should be a clear way to reach a clinician after purchase, not just a sales inbox.
- No insurance games. Cash-pay pricing should be honest about being cash-pay — not dangled behind "check your coverage" funnels designed to collect your data.
- Straightforward cancellation and refunds. Find the refund policy before you pay. If you can't find one, that's the answer.
- Honest marketing. Beware guaranteed pounds-per-month claims, "no side effects" language, or before/after photos doing the arguing. Responsible providers talk about ranges, medical supervision, and fit.
Quick comparison: what "all-inclusive" should mean
| Line item | Included at Agave | Industry pattern to watch for |
|---|---|---|
| Provider visit & ongoing reviews | Included | $49–$150 "consult fees" |
| Medication | Included | Priced per dose tier, rises on titration |
| Shipping | Included, free | $10–$30 per shipment |
| Labs (when required) | Included | Separate $80–$150 charge |
| Flat monthly price | From $179/mo, never rises with dose | "From" price only for month one |
Fifteen-minute vetting routine
1) Search the provider's name on the LegitScript verification database. 2) Read the refund policy top to bottom. 3) Find the price for month six, not month one. 4) Confirm which pharmacy compounds the medication. 5) Send one pre-sales question and see whether a human answers usefully. A provider that survives all five is worth your intake form. For how we compare specifically, see Agave vs. other GLP-1 providers.
